Community Guidelines
Welcome to Type School!
This platform provides a dedicated space for you to learn and meet people based on type. Our mission is to maximize the understanding and usage of typology in the world, and we are committed to hosting a space where our actions align with our vision and purpose.
We have developed the following community guidelines to provide guidance on how to engage with other users in the community and what you should expect from instructors and students.
Remember, we are the first wave of pioneers in a brand new community, so our contributions will shape Type School’s culture. Let's work together to build a great community that we all will benefit from.
Our Three Core Principles
Expect imperfection - We are all lifelong learners. There will always be gaps in our own knowledge and the knowledge of those in the community. Embrace this, and use these as learning opportunities to help ourselves and others on the platform to grow.
Strong ideas held loosely - learning typology can bring about significant changes in one's perspective. For example, many people discover that their type is different than they initially thought after they gain a deeper understanding of type theory. Don't be afraid to challenge your existing frameworks and embrace new ones.
Craft the shorter letter - Have you ever heard the phrase, “Sorry I wrote such a long letter, I didn’t have time to write a shorter one”? If we take the time to craft our posts well and make verbal contributions in events succinctly, we can all benefit from everybody's ideas.
Do's and Do not's
Do
Approach disagreements with curiosity and assume good intentions - we’re a community after all, and we look out for each other, even when we hold differing views.
Ask questions when you have gaps in your knowledge - it’s good for everybody to be open about what we don’t know
Share your knowledge when you know something others don’t - the more we share, the stronger our community becomes
Be welcoming and supportive to our new members to help them integrate
Do not
Rank or compare types against each other, or insult a particular type
Post spam or self-promotion
Engage in hate speech, harassment, bullying, discrimination or other targeted attacks
Share private or personal information of other members (eg doxing, screenshots or videos of private conversations) without their consent
Illegal activity - see our terms and conditions for more details
Post anything from inside the Type School platform outside of it, unless you have written permission from the author/creator to share that content
Breaches of our community guidelines will result in a written warning and/or removal from the platform.
Please keep this in mind when posting.
Thank you for taking the time to read our guidelines - we can’t wait to see you in the community!
